African Firefinch



There is a pair of these guys who visit our garden on a daily basis and yet this is the best I've managed to get a photo of them (yet). Awesome little guys! The African Firefinch (Lagonosticta rubricata), also called the Blue-billed Firefinch due to the color of its bill([1]), is a common species of estrildid finch found in almost all parts of Africa. It has an estimated global extent of occurrence of 5,400,000 km². It is found in Angola, Benin, Burundi, Cameroon, Central African Republic, the Republic of Congo, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Côte d'Ivoire, Ethiopia, Gabon, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Ghana, Kenya, Liberia, Malawi, Mozambique, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Sudan, Swaziland, Tanzania, Togo, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
