African Wild Dogs

Beautiful sighting of African Wild Dogs in Imfolozi. At first they were all just sleeping... and then all got excited and were running around and playing with each other. Such a beautiful family unit! Some of these are wearing tracking collars as they are highly endangered. Lycaon pictus is a canid found only in Africa, especially in savannas and lightly wooded areas. It is variously called the African wild dog, African hunting dog, Cape hunting dog, painted dog, painted wolf, painted hunting dog, spotted dog, or ornate wolf. http://flic.kr/p/jYkhSK
